| | Ramona is a responsible and loving dog owner. She wanted a garden she could enjoy with her dog. | |
|
|
| | She asked me if I knew of the new synthetic turf products available for pets. It took me a minute to wrap my mind around the idea of using artificial turf but I came to a place where it does make a lot of sense. | |

| | If a pet owner wants to have a lawn we now have the option of a special artificial turf made just for pets. It was created and developed for the doggie day care industry and is available to homeowners. The company we use makes their artificial turf from recycled plastic. It has a special backing designed to reduce bacteria and pathogens. There is a amino/enzymatic solution that can be used to further insure the cleanliness of the product.

| | What I like about this product is my clients can enjoy their gardens with their dogs. Of course good training is still important but the area of elimination no longer has to be the corner of bark tucked away in the back. | |

| | Ramona had a nicely speckled granite stone, we nestled the plants around it and later she added the coral. Nice touch Ramona! The blue 'Forget me not' flowers belong to the heart shaped silvery leaves of Brunnera 'Jack Frost'. The little gray/green variegated ground cover is Glechoma, it likes to fill in the blanks and in pots and taller walls will cascade on thin strings of stems.. | |

| | The side of the house had too much hardscape. There is the concrete swale that runs along the side, the flagstone and the retaining wall. I suggested we break it up by narrowing the path and putting plants on either side. We redid the raised bed with a more lush plant pallet. | |

| | Here is a tip about Cercidiphyllum japonicum KATSURA TREE. It is by far one of the most beautiful trees on the planet but, it does not like to go from the pot in the nursery into the ground. Every time I've planted this tree the leaves get really ugly, dry up and fall off. In Ramona's garden she was willing to give it a wait through the winter to see what spring would bring. Well, her tree is back and it is meeting all expectations of grandeur. | |
